Highlights of 2003

Strengthening nonprofits is our reason for being. Strong nonprofits build strong communities, where people and institutions are able to meet and address challenges with charity, competence and mutual respect. The Evergreen State Society worked with colleagues across Washington during 2003  to help other nonprofits be successful.

  • Public Programs

  • Breakfast-time meetings on the theme of Civil Society in Everyday life engaged participants in examinations of the ways individuals can act to strengthen the communities where they live. The new Seattle University Student Center afforded comfortable and convenient rooms for the discussions.
  • A wide range of topics in nonprofit management filled the program of monthly BrownBag seminars offered at lunchtime at Antioch University’s Seattle campus.
  • Informal networking characterized the monthly Schmoozefest gatherings at the Wallingford Community Senior Center.
  • The Ninth Annual Nonprofit Leadership Conference brought Peter Brinckerhoff to Seattle for a day full of practical insights.
  • The 2003 Evergreen Awards to recognize nonprofits for outstanding community service.
