Surprise! Surprise! Surprise!
Keith McCandless, Oblique Strategy

In this lively session, we will explore how to nimbly “manage” surprise – the unexpected events that may present a difficult challenge or a fabulous opportunity. In contrast to the “big-brains-should-have-anticipated-it-in-advance-school,” we will examine how complex systems invariably generate the unexpected and how leaders can responsibly be “in charge but not in control.” Each participant will assess their readiness for managing the unexpected based on insights from “high reliability organizations.”
